The Wight Ryder I is a new catamaran ferry that is owned by Wightlink. She has a sister ship, the Wight Ryder II. She operates on the Ryde to Portsmouth route. The ferry terminals at Ryde Pier and Portsmouth Harbour had to be redeveloped to suit the two new catamarans. The vessels replaced their predecessors, the FastCat Ryde and the FastCat Shanklin, both of which are due to be sold to new owners based in Bristol. Until they are sold however, they will act as replacement ferries for the two new catamarans if any of them break down. Both thw Wight Ryder I and the Wight Ryder II have been criticised for being too slow and not being able to fit as many passengers as the previous FastCat's were able to. Her current port of registry is Portsmouth, United Kingdom.
