She was built in 1987 by NKK Corp, Japan as the Norsun for North Sea Ferries. She was built alongside her sister ship, the Norsea. She remained in service with the company until 1996 when she was transferred to P&O North Sea Ferries, until the Pride of Rotterdam and the Pride of Hull replaced the sister ships in 2001. In 2002, she and the Norsea began operations between Hull and Zeebrugge, replacing the Norstar and the Norland. She was renamed as the Pride of Bruges and her sister ship was renamed as the Pride of York. She has served this route since. Her port of registry is Rotterdam, The Netherlands.
