The Spirit of Vancouver Island

The Spirit of Vancouver Island is the second of the two S Class ferries built in 1994 for the Canadian ferry company, BC Ferries. She, along with her sister ship, the Spirit of British Columbia, is the largest ferry in the fleet. She was placed on the route linking Tsawwassen and Swartz Bay after she was built. She has been involved in a number of incidents including in 2000 when she collided with the Star Ruby while trying to overtake her in a narrow channel. The accident left two people dead as a result of their injuries. Her current port of registry is Vicoria, British Columbia.
